Microsoft has launched the cheapest 4G phone, Lumia 638 running Windows 8.1 OS in India. Microsoft Lumia 638 runs on a quad-core processor and is powered by 1GB RAM.

The phone features a ClearBlack 4.5-inch LCD screen with TrueColor. Pre-booking for the phone will start December 17 and its availability will be exclusive to Microsoft Brand Store at Amazon.in.

In other news, Microsoft may not release its next flagship until September next year. According to a rumor, at Mobile World Congress next year, the company will only be showing off entry-level devices and a possible new entry into 6-series of Lumia phones.

Rumors also suggest that the high-flying Lumia 1020 successor, codenames McLaren has been canceled.

After the Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia's Devices division was finalized, the company has gone through an extensive rebranding exercise. A month ago it launched the Lumia 535 - the first smartphone to launch without Nokia's name attached.

As always, we suggest you to take these rumors with a pinch of salt as none of these are officially confirmed.
