Although Leicester City are the toast of the football world at the moment due to their stupendous achievement of winning the English Premier League out of nowhere, North London club Tottenham Hotspur have also gone through a quiet revolution under Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino that saw them reach heights that they have neved done before in the Premier League and they are now determined to strengthen their squad for the 2016-17 season. According to reports by the British tabloid The Sun, Pochettino has identified Liverpool and England Adam Lallana as his prime target for the midfield position as he builds a team that would be able to compete on all fronts next season.

Pochettino was the manager of Southampton FC when Lallana emerged as one of the big stars in the Premier League and following his successful 2013-14 season under the Argentine, he was whisked away by Liverpool in a big money move. He could not hit the same heights at Liverpool but has reestablished himself in the first team under Jurgen Klopp this season as one of the key players in the eleven and now, Pochettino has apparently made him his top target this summer. Chairman Daniel Levy has also been informed that he is the player that the Argentine manager woud like to be a part of the team in 2016-17 as Tottenham embark on a gruelling campaign including UEFA Champions League football.

The reported fee would be around £20 million for the England international who is almost certain to be selected for the national team squad for the European Championships this year. It is however interesting to note that Pochettino had wanted to bring Lallana to White Hart Lane right after he took over as the manager in 2014 but a deal could not be reached but he is now determined to have him as a part of his squad and considering the fact that Lallana developed as a player under him at Southampton, the chances of this deal materialising this time are quite high.
