An indiegogo campaign is promoting a device, Livia, which works as an "off-switch for menstrual pain." Most women are known to resort to pain killers during their periods to overcome the excruciating pain. Livia, on the other hand, is a non-drug based approach.

Chen Nachum, company founder and CEO, said that Livia uses a technology called high-frequency nerve stimulation, TENS, that acts as a barrier between nerves and the body to block any pain signals. Women can use these Livia stickers where they feel the pain and can adjust the intensity of the device based on the degree of pain they are feeling.

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) are low intensity pulses around 50 and 120 hertz. Apart from Livia, they are also used in other devices too. The device has already been tested on more than 160 women and is available in cute colors. It is powered by internal batteries that need to be charged for up to 15 hours.

Many international women's magazines, such as Glamour and Cosmopolitan, are already favoring this device. The Livia campaign on Indiegogo has already attracted more than $284,000 in funding from more than 3,000 crowdfunders from across the world. The kit is also available for purchase on Indiegogo's website at $. However, it will be delivered to you by October 2016.

Jen Gunter, OB_GYN and pain medicine specialist, says that its capacity to overcome the pain is incredible. She also added that she has already used this technology for her patients to alleviate their menstrual pain for 15 years now.

However, according to Gunter, Livia is slightly overpriced as other TENS devices can be easily bought for up to $35.
