When Real Madrid made Gareth Bale the most expensive player in the world in 2013 by paying a worled record transfer fee thought to be around £90 million, it was a clear show of intent that they saw the Welshman as the future of the clubs's attack and now they are determined to sign him up for a longer contract. Gareth Bale's current contract will keep at the Santiago Bernabau till 2019 but Real Madrid are offering him a deal that would keep him at the club till 2021 and in order to achieve that, they are willing to make him the best paid player in the world. Lionel Messi earns more than £336,000 per week at Barcelona and that has made him the best paid footballer in the planet, but Real Madrid authorities feel that Bale could be their own star for many years to come and are willing to give him the new deal that will see him earning far more than the £300,000 per week that he earns at this point of time.

Ever since he arrived at Real Madrid, he has proven to be an extremely influential member of the team and in his very first season, he helped the club win the UEFA Champions League. This year, he has been instrumental in taking the club to the final of the UEFA Champions League yet again. Cristiano Ronaldo is currently the highest earner in the team with a weekly wage similar to Lionel Messi, however it has emerged that club could be ready to let the 31 year old go and make Gareth Bale the new show stopper at Real Madrid. Clubs like Paris Saint Germain and Manchester United have shown interest in acquiring Ronaldo and if the deal goes through then Real Madrid would be able to finance Bale's wagest with ease. Additionally, Ronaldo would find it hard to play in a team in which he is not the highest earner and so the record deal could also mean that the Portuguese is on his way out.
