Ever since Season 6 of "The Walking Dead" wrapped up, fans and followers have been brainstorming about the unlucky victim who bit the dust at the hands of villain Negan.

There seems to be no end to the speculations and guessing game. According to reports, the audiences are enraged with the producers for resorting to the cliffhanger treatment. They feel it was more of an attempt at gimmickry rather than interesting storytelling. The anger is very palpable and it has led Robert Kirkman, the show creator, to render an explanation.

He took to the ongoing comic book series pages to explain why they did it. And if you think he revealed the identity of the victim, you are wrong. He just cleared things up about the way the finale ended. And according to him, it was not gimmickry, but an effort to do something cool.

He says that the team wanted to get people excited and do something so that the show remains on people's mind. However, it seems the effort backfired as some were not happy with the treatment, for which he feels sorry.

The director further promises that season seven will be an awesome ride. Talking about season six finale, he says that every minute of the episode was significant and served to set up the stage for future events. He said that it was a cool episode and viewers should be frightened of Negan as he has a lot more to do.

Well, it seems unlikely that this explanation will assuage the feelings of fans and they will keep guessing as to who died. As of now, Daryl and Glenn are the most popular victims amongst the fans. In the latter case, it would be similar to the comic series plot, but in the past, the show has taken a U turn and killed different characters.

And hence, it might turn out to be Daryl or Maggie or Carol or Michonne! Killing any of the women characters serves to offer shock value, but Daryl has very low chances as that would create a riot among fans.
