Independent filmmaker Girard Tecson is bound to offer Zelda fans something they never knew they wanted. With Dayside Productions, Tecson puts a Chinese twist on the film rendition of one of Nintendo's best-selling games, Legend of Zelda.

As shown in the trailer, the green-garbed hero Link decides to forego his police career in search for Zelda whom he believed will be a key figure in his mission to undermine the Ganon criminal empire. The preview seems to have faithfully stayed close to the original storyline at a first glance, which could lend a sense of familiarity to long-time fans. The fun twists then come after to give the movie its distinct re-telling without compromising the original plot entirely.

The full short film is set to be released on May 5 featuring a slew of interesting combat scene choreography, courtesy of Hybrid Action Team.

To the unfamiliar, Dayside Productions was the fifth place team winner in the reality TV film-making show, Internet Icon. Founded by Filipino film maker Girard Tecson, the group found success by becoming an official YouTube partner and winning a short film Best Picture Award for the flick This Moment at Cannes Film Festival as per Rocket News 24.

Meanwhile, Nintendo officially confirmed the postponement of the Legend of Zelda's Wii U release to next year following a series of 'emerging possibilities' of the game while it is being developed according to lead creator Eiji Aonuma. However, it is not exactly clear why the company decides to move the slated release to 2017 given the mounting frustration among fans who have persistently waited for the game's arrival this year.

The postponement of the game may have been linked to the ongoing development of the Japanese gaming giant's next generation console codenamed 'NX' as per University Herald report. The game was originally designed for Wii U console. Some observers think that delaying the release will give way for the developers to make the game work on both platforms.
