While the weather can aid or ruin Pokémon GO gameplay, fans are debating if it affects spawning of Pokémon.

Pokémon loyalists testing the game have expressed divergent opinions over whether the weather has any effect. While some have claimed it affects spawning, others opine it doesn't. The discussions were triggered after some Pokemon GO testers in Australia noticed water Pokémon like Staryus when it was raining.

Some other players also opined that time of the day will also cause variance in spawning of Pokémon.

"Morning it's typically Caterpie, Meowth, Persian, Abra, and Drowzee. Checked again, now seeing Oddish and Rattata. Lunch it's typically Eevee, Magnemite, and Growlithe. Evening it's typically Gastly, Magneton, Nidoran, and Mankey," said a Reddit user testing the game.

However, many others opined that there was not adequate information to make a conclusion.

"Their justification appears to be that because the rainy day was the first day they saw Psyducks or Poliwags, then therefore, rain must have caused that. I personally come across Psyducks and Polliwags frequently in full sun," said another Reddit user with four days of testing experience.

"This doesn't mean weather isn't a driving force in the game. But their conclusion is a huge leap from this poster's insignificant sample size. For example, on my third day I caught my first Growlithe near a public toilet, therefore public toilets spawn Growlithe," he added.

The spawning debate apart, fans have also been wondering if Niantic will unveil Pokémon from other generations and the legendaries in the beta. Fans speculated that legendaries will only be part of worldwide events and could appear transiently in places like India, suggesting extensive travel before players attend to combat or capture them.
