More reports emerged last weekend claiming Apple is doing away with the headphone jack. Interestingly, if speculation proves true, the phone will not be any thinner.

Removal of headphone jack rumor has been around ever since the iPhone 6S was launched last year. A patent filed by Apple and numerous reports that followed mentioned that the headphone jack was preventing the company from making its phones thinner. The iPhone 6 was the thinnest iPhone made at 6.9 mm thickness. The iPhone 6S was made thicker to render it stronger than its predecessor.

New reports that emerged last week based on leaks in a Japanese magazine that published what it claims are authentic schematics of the iPhone 7, state this year's device will not have the headphone jack but will not be any thinner. In tune with all that we know, the new reports claim the iPhone 7 will look similar to the iPhone 6S.

Reputed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims Apple will break away from tradition by retaining a two-year-old design in order to introduce radical design changes in next year's device; the iPhone 8 (Apple is rumoured to skip iPhone 7S), may feature an OLED display without the physical home button.

That notwithstanding, the iPhone 7 is expected to feature improved specs. The rear dual camera is among the much anticipated specifications of this year's phone. The Japanese magazine and other reports claimed a dual-camera module will be introduced this year to improve features like Live Photos.

A dual-camera setup can help clicking pictures when shooting video while also allowing video shooting at different frame rates with two modules. The leaked schematics also revealed a smart connector on the iPhone 7 but there was no hint of the second speaker that rumor mills suggested as replacement for the headphone jack.

The leak also revealed the presence of the rumored iPhone 7 Pro, about which very little information is available. However, the release of three phones this fall has been widely reported.
