Despite the obvious somber mood and pictures that speak of a dead Elizabeth Keen, fans are convinced that she is alive somewhere and not really dead. In fact, NBC has not even confirmed that Megan has left the show. A popular fan theory suggests that Elizabeth Keen's death has been faked by Raymond Reddington (James Spader) to keep her safe. However, after this week's episode, Cape May, this theory seems to be falling apart.

Red was seen visibly disturbed by Liz's death and even traveled to Cape May where he recollected meeting Elizabeth's mother, several years ago. He even talked about failing to save Liz's life. If Indeed Keen is alive, looks like Reddington doesn't know about it.

Megan Boone, playing Elizabeth Keen, just recently gave birth to her real life baby on April 15 and is obviously looking to take maternity leave, to tend to her newborn. Due to this reason, she will not be filming any new episodes, at least in the immediate future. It is possible that Megan told the show makers that she wants to leave the show and spend all her time with her newborn son.

The spoilers also reveal that a spinoff is in the process where Ryan Eggold will also be exiting from the show. In fact, spring finale will act as a pilot episode of this new spinoff where Ryan's character Tom Keen will take Agnes, Keen's daughter, with him. This means that Boone is definitely not returning to the show because if her daughter and husband are gone, there is no need for Elizabeth to be on "The Blacklist." However, it will be too soon to completely rule out Elizabeth's death being just a ruse.
