'Shadowhunters' Season 2 News and Rumors: Producer Discusses Alec's Coming Out Scene, Reveals Spoilers of Love Triangle

"Shadowhunters" season 2 news and rumors have been spreading around the popular series since the first season ended earlier this month. Now the focus on many fans' minds is Alec's coming out scene in the first season and how it will play out throughout season 2.

Alec and Magnus, known to many fans as "Malec," are fan favorites due to their LGBT relationship on the show. Every fan's jaw dropped in Alec's coming out scene in the episode titled "Malec," when he revealed to everyone he was gay when he went down the aisle and he grabbed Magnus and kissed him in front of the wedding guests.

The executive producer of the show, Michael Reisz, shared some riveting details on the back story behind the infamous scene.

Paste Magazine interviewed Reisz who revealed that the biggest part was satisfying the fans.

"It became clear to us just how massively important that ship was to the fans as well. The fans are everything," Reisz said. "While not giving away what would happen in episode 12, we wanted to let the fans know we hear them, we think about them and we care just as much about the relationship as they do. And so we thought it was a deserving tribute."

The coming out scene comes out in the third book of the "Immortal Instruments," the book series the TV show follows. Upon asking him about the differences from the scene and what the book stated, Reisz said that it had always been a "public scene."

"Alec coming out was always a very public thing. He was doing it for himself," said Reisz. "He's claiming the authenticity of his life....I really wanted Alec to make the definitive statement 'I'm going to live authentically, this is what I'm choosing, even with everybody in my ear 24/7.' Just as Cassie so beautifully did in the books with the public kiss on the battlefield, I wanted to honor that here."

Reisz also teased about what we will see in Season 2 concerning the love triangle between Alec, Magnus, and Jace. He revealed that Alec and Jace "will always have each other's back because they have that parabatai bond."

Many fans are awaiting the official airdate since the cast revealed that the series will continue for a second season. It has been reported though that the "Shadowhunters" season 2 will premiere in early 2017.
