Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez's pedigree as one of the modern game's greatest strikers was never in doubt but when he starts playing in a league that features some of the best attacking talents in the world then football fans will always have the curiosity to see how he stacks up against the best of the lot. He answered that question emphatically when he arrived at Barcelona in 2014, when he helped the club win the treble but in the 2015-16 he has finally been able to get to the top of the goal scoring charts in the La Liga with a total of 34 goals so far and only a handful of games to go.

The La Liga is a league that attracts the best players in the world and see plenty of goals being scored and currently Suarez is ahead of the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar Junior, Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo in the La Liga goal scoring charts. Cristiano Ronaldo with 32 goals is at the second position.Luis Suarez kicked off his rich goal scoring form in the 8-0 rout of Deportivo la Coruna during the week when the Catalans ran away with the game and he stuck another 4 goals against Sporting Gijon this past Saturday. It is a sort of goal scoring form that has seldom been seen in the La Liga and it came at just the right time for Barcelona, considering the tough time they have had over the past few weeks.

Barcelona had been leading the La Liga table by 9 points and seemed to have it wrapped up before they lost three games on the trot to throw the league wide open. However, Luis Suarez's form has meant that they have been able to get back to winning ways with two thumping victories that have also boosted their goal difference massively and if they do end up on equal points with either or both of Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid then they are going to be crowned champions. Suarez has also recorded 15 assists in the league and that is four more than what Cristiano Ronaldo recorded.
