"Tokyo Ghoul" is a popular anime that is all set to come back for a new season. However, before fans get excited about the prospect, it seems that its third season will not appear in 2016 as expected.

According to the rumors, the reason for the delay has been attributed to lack of source material. Some fans think that this delay will be a good time to work on certain issues such as divergent scenes seen in season 2 as not a part of manga.

Reports indicate that the fans are requesting and in fact, hoping, that the new season will justify the source material and avoid straying from the main story. If the issue continues, the fans may even go so far as to petition for series reboot altogether. This move will be to request a separation of anime from manga wherein anime will only take its inspiration from manga and use it as a means to translate for the story to successfully play in anime. This will obviously an unwelcome change as it will result in two different endings for fans who read manga and also watch the anime.

The fans hope that the manga authors and the anime producers will be able to find a way that will not divide the fan base between these two mediums.

"Tokyo Ghoul" is a story of of Ken Kaneki is a college student who becomes half ghoul after he encounters Rize Kamishiro who is also a ghoul. Since Ken would need human flesh for survival, being a ghoul is taking immense toll on him. He is then taken in by "Anteiku" a coffee shop managed by ghouls, who trains him to handle his new life.

The third season of the series, however, is focused on Touka Kirishima, a fighter with a rabbit mask.
