Gun control is a controversial topic in America and ABC's show "Grey's Anatomy" took it up with great sensitivity in the twentieth episode titled "Trigger Happy" and advocated for an anti-gun culture.

The episode saw two panicked mothers arriving at the Grey Sloan Hospital as their sons have been found to be involved in a gun-shooting accident. They have been informed by the police and assume that the accident is the result of a drive-by shooting.

But later on when the mothers get to know the real reason, they are shocked. The injured 8-year-old boy Brandon got shot while playing with his same age friend Peter. Peter also arrives at the hospital along with their babysitter who was present during the accident. She discloses that the accidental firing took place when the kids chanced upon Brandon's mother's gun.

Dr. Alex Karev takes charge of the case along with other doctors. Brandon is taken to the operation theater where the surgeons discuss the accident. Some say that Brandon's mother is responsible for it. Dr. Alex is visibly agitated and takes an anti-gun stance, but is surprised to learn that his girlfriend Dr. Jo Wilson has one and she has kept it at their home.

On the other hand, Peter's mother feels sorry and tries to console Brandon's mother by saying that he will be ok, but she rebuffs her sympathies and holds Peter responsible for the act. So, the former gives him a reality check. She says that her son would not have reached this stage if she was anti-gun.

Meanwhile, the operation is successful but Brandon is paralyzed. When Peter learns about it, he is inconsolable, but Dr. Amelia counsels him and says that he should always remember that it was an accident.

The episode ends with Dr. Alex Karev and his girlfriend at their flat where the latter decides to part with her gun. Her change of heart is the highlight of the show as she was the only one who supported keeping a gun.
