Is Apple planning a major graphics upgrade for this year's MacBook Pro? New reports claim AMD has a design in store for exclusively for Apple.

The MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to be unveiled this June at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC). Intel's Skylake processors are expected to power the new MacBook Pro, which also power 2016 MacBook that Apple recently revised. Unlike its low cost cousin, MacBook Pro would feature dedicated graphics. AMD has a new design based on its 14 nm micro-architecture that Apple could incorporate.

The GPU based on the AMD's FinFet architecture, could be twice faster than its predecessor used in the existing MacBook Pro. Combined with overall improvements in performance that Skylake brings, this would be a big boost to the laptop's graphics prowess.

The performance of HD 520 and 530 graphics, the integrated graphics units of the Skylake generation, have been lauded. Apple users can expect impressive graphics performance from revised MacBooks.

Apple is rumored to release 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro 2016 models in a form factor similar to MacBook. Specifications of the new device have not been disclosed but expect 4K screen, thunderbolt 3 and USB type-C. Other less likely features speculated include removable screen like Microsoft Surface Pro, stackable keyboard and touch keyboard for which Apple filed a patent.

A launch was expected in March but Apple did not unveil the laptop. Given the impending update of MacBook Pro, one would expect most prospective buyers would put off purchases until Apple unveils this year's product. However, existing MacBook Pro remains popular but ever since word of Apple refreshing its MacBook line began doing rounds, users have been divided on purchase.

After Apple refreshed MacBook a few days ago, more users are likely to wait for the revamped MacBook Pro given that Apple could release a better laptop in a slimmer form factor at the same cost.
