Everton's young defender John Stones, who was the subject of a £32 million bid from Chelsea last summer and had in fact put in a transfer request in a desperate bid move to the then defending champions, is till in the Blues' radar and the club are determined to make him one of their early signing in 2016. Everton had been able to hold on to their star defender in the summer of 2015 but after a disappointing season in which the club have not been able to play to their potential, they might not able to hold on to him and Chelsea have prepared a £37 million bid for Stones, in an effort to ensure that any deal is completed as soon as possible.

Chelsea simply have to go on a major acquisition spree if they are to challenge for the biggest honours in football under new manager Anotnio Conte and the club believe that John Stones would be perfect for shoring up their central defence for many years to come. Their talismanic captain and the rock of their central defence, John Terry is almost certain to end his career at Chelsea after the end of this season and the club need a new defender who can hold his own against the very best in the business. Stones is a perfect replacement for Terry since he has already displayed his ability to be one of the best defenders in the English Premier League and is regarded as one of the future greats of the game, just like a young John Terry. Stones is most likely to be the defensive partner to Gary Cahill from next season, however further defensive reinforcements cannot be rules out.

Some of the most respected names in the game like Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola admire John Stones' defensive attributes and also his ability to play the ball from the back to the midfielders. It is expected that, despite Everton's reluctance to part with their young star, they might have to settle for a handsome transfer fee as Stones embraks on an exciting new journey in West London next year.
