After losing out on lefty ace Jon Lester, the Boston Red Sox made moves to acquire Wade Miley from the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to Jon Heyman with CBSSports.com.

Although Miley is no Lester, adding him to rotation is a huge win for the Red Sox. Miley, 28, finished last season 8-12 with a 4.34 ERA in 33 starts. He had a total of 133 strikeouts (8.2 K/9).

In the 2012-13 season, Miley had a 3.44 ERA. He also became an All-Star and finished second to the Washington Nationals' Bryce Harper in the NL Rookie of the Year voting. Overall, Miley win-loss record is 38-35 in 102 starts with a 3.79 ERA. Over the past three years, Miley has averaged just less than 200 innings pitched in each season.

"We always go through an exercise in coming up with a budget number of innings that need to be accounted for," manager John Farrell said according to the Boston Herald. "You take into account what individual pitchers have done in previous years and what you project them to be able to provide upcoming. We knew going in that there were going to be a couple of spots needed for innings-eating and very quality innings pitched. Ideally, if you can get a couple of 200-inning pitchers, they don't go on trees, but that's the goal."

In exchange for Miley, the Red Sox will send two young pitchers, Allen Webster and Rubby De La Rosa and a minor leaguer, Ken Rosenthal with FOXSports.com reported. Webster has a 6.25 ERA and De La Rosa has a 4.54 ERA.

The Red Sox, reportedly looking to add at least one more starter to their rotation.
