Google Helps You Manage Your Free Time and Stop Procrastinating

Google Calendar is a decade older now. What fitting way to celebrate the milestone than to roll out its latest mobile feature called 'Goals'- a self-betterment app that helps you manage your free time more productively and overcome procrastination.

As reported by The Verge, this new feature helps Android and iPhone users hyper-organized their activities in a neatly planned suggestion. But the Goals app only makes a lot sense if you have your life organized around Google calendar.

By using the app, users are asked to make custom goals. The software does this by asking questions like how much time you are willing to commit to the goal and the time of the day that's best for you to execute the planned task. With such inputs, 'Goals' will dynamically adjust a recommended schedule based on any other tasks you placed on Google calendar.

According to a report by Tech Spot, the app also contains an algorithm that helps it analyze and learn from your interactions with the goals.

So far, the feature does not collect any more information from the user other than what was essentially asked.

"The data is only used to improve the future scheduling of Goals for the user," said Google spokesperson as quoted by Huffington Post.

How to use Google 'Goals'

1. Have a Google Calendar app installed on your iPhone, iPad or Android device if you don't have one yet.

2. Open Google Calendar.

3. Tap on the red circle with a plus (+) sign found in the bottom right-hand corner.

4. Then you'll see three options: Event, Reminder, Goal. Tap on Goal.

5. After tapping on it, select what kind of goal you want to work on (ex: build a skill, exercise). The app will then guide you with recommendations on how to better manage goals.
