Days after it unveiled its affordable Model 3 electric sedan, Tesla announced it was recalling Model X for flaw in the vehicle's third-row seats that could unlatch following a collision.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the recall affects SUVs manufactured before March 26. The problem was found in internal testing mandated in Europe and no untoward incidents were reported. The company has reportedly asked users to refrain from using the last row while it fixes the problem. Around 2,700 SUVs are said to be affected by the recall.

CNN explained that the problem was caused due to the seat recliner, attributed to manufacturing defect. Tesla denied it was a design flaw. While the first two rows in the luxury SUV are manufactured by Tesla, Australian firm Futuris manufactures the third-row seats. The company has said its production facilities are able to make around 750 Model X SUVs a week.

To comply with the recall, Tesla customers have to take their vehicles to the company's service centers. Alternatively, the company has also said it will contact customers.

Elon Musk unveiled a prototype of Tesla Model 3 last month. The $ 35,000 sedan can seat five and promises to run 215 miles on a single charge. Over 300,000 have registered for the car paying $ 1,000. Tesla is expected to rollout the car in 2017.

The production capacity of the carmaker has been questioned following the massive interest expressed in Model 3. Analysts wondered if Tesla, which made about 50,000 cars last year, can up its production capacity. Musk expressed confidence that the company's gigafactory will able to provide adequate lithium-ion batteries for the Model 3.

Tesla hopes to sell around half million Model 3 sedans. However, given the delivery delays that other cars of Tesla have seen, it remains to be seen if the company can live up to the demand.
