New years result in new devices. But what excites the consumer market the most? It's the flagships! Different manufacturers, different flagships, different pricing, different sizes. Ok, enough difference! Now again, this is a never ending battle. It goes on years down the lane and keeps going way into the future too. Smartphones, however different and new, the presumer simply can't get enough of these. That's why let's take a comparison at two flagships for this year. One from the presumer side with the Samsung galaxy S7 and one from the budget-intended normal consumer side the Mi 5 from Xiaomi.

Both the phones are the current flagships for this year with Samsung and Xiaomi both coming out with two phone variants. The Samsung side as usual consists of S7 and S7 edge. While on the Xiaomi side, there are "pro" and normal versions. Both the phones also come with a dual-sim phone variants. While the Samsung phone S7 was announced in February, it was already out in the markets the same day and the Mi 5 is yet to come out with all variants.

Both the phones support most of the LTE bands and not to worry Most Samsung phones work almost everywhere since there about a dozen of LTE bands themselves. This is best in case you frequently travel out of the country and you need constant best internet experience currently. Both the phones are similar in size with about 5.6 inches. While the Samsung S7 weights a little bit heavier than Mi 5, the difference is only about 30 grams maximum which is "meh". Both phones are secured with scratch-proof Corning gorilla glass 4 while the S7 has the gorilla glass on both the sides. The S7 also comes with a single sim version. Both the phones have fingerprint sensors not only to just unlock your phones but it also enables a more secure environment for your phone. The S7's sensor is also certified bot by Visa and Mastercard.

The S7 wins in the batter of IP68 certification which is now actually a big thing for smartphones. The IP68 certification is provided to phones which are actually water and dust proof and not just scratch-proof. Right now, The Mi 5 doesn't have one.

In terms of display, Samsung clearly wins in between thetwo with a Super AMOLED screen with 5.1 inches of screen size and a resolution of 2k (2560x1440) and a pixel density of 577. The Mi 5 on the other hand still houses an IPS LCD display with a screen size of 5.15 inches of full-HD resolution with a pixel count of 428. Both the phones support multi-touch and both the phones are on their  custom skins on top of Android operating system. The S7 also features an "always-on" display where you can see the time and date, weather and alarm at any time without switching your phones back from sleep. Both the phones are running Android's latest operating system Marshmallow 6.0 and both the phones are on snapdragon 820 along with Adreno 530.  However, there is another additional variant for the S7 runnin on their own priority chip the Exynos MSM8996 octa-core processor supported by Mali's T880MP12. The S7 also comes with an additional storage feature with expandable storage about 200GB on a dedicated slot. Both the phones come with 4GB RAM.
