Leicester City's rise to the top of the English Premier League table has been nothing short of extraodrinary and it is without doubt one of the most significant achievements in modern European club football in recent times, however a lot of the credit for this resurgance must go to their Moroccan dynamo Riyad Mahrez. Mahrez's performances has catapulted him into the big league and it is not a surprise that FC Barcelona are currently considering a move for the winger.

According to reports in the publication Don Balon, the Catalan club are poised to make a bid of £40 million in order to take Mahrez to the Camp Nou and considering the huge TV deals that are going to kick in next season in the English Premier League, that seems to be a fair bid. Leicester City have no reason to sell Mahrez but an offer of that magnitude for a player whom they bought for roughly £350,000 two years back is certainly going to prove to be an incredible return on their investment.

Mahrez has dazzled the English Premier League with his dribbling and shooting skills throughout the 2015-16 season and his tally of 16 goals along with 11 assists has been one of the biggest factors behind Leicester CIty's unlikely title tilt and if they can hold their nerve then the club who were on the verge of relegation last season could cap their greatest achievement as a football club. However, it is also important to point out that other than Barcelona, Manchester United has also shown interest in signing up the winger and that could lead to a sustained bidding war between the two clubs for the signature of one of the hottest properties in European football at the moment. If that happens, then there is every chance that the final transer fee for Mahrez could end up being a lot more than £40 million that is doing the rounds at this point in time.

On a related note, Leicester City are aware that their unsung stars would attract a lot of attention if they go on to win the league and they are expecting similarly large bids for their French defensive midfielder N'Golo Kante.
