'The Little Mermaid' Musical News Update: Sara Bareilles and Rebel Wilson to Feature in the Musical

The highly-anticipated musical "The Little Mermaid", which will be hosted on June 4 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, has some great casting.

Sara Bareilles has joined the musical to play the little mermaid Ariel whereas Rebel Wilson will be seen in the role of the evil sea witch Ursula. Darren Criss is set to play Prince Eric while Norm Lewis will essay the role of King Triton. Joshua Colley will be seen as Flounder and Tituss Burgess as Sebastian the Crab.

According to reports, the 36-year-old Grammy Award winning singer is elated at the prospect of playing Ariel and is reported to have said that the opportunity is like a dream come true. She said that she is honored and excited to be a part of one of her favorite stories. Wondering how she would pretend to be Ariel during her childhood and how things have come to such a point that she will be playing the iconic part on a big stage.

Rebel is also happy at getting to Play Ursula and said that she would do her best to make Pat Carroll proud by performing her famous song from the super hit animated version. She added that the role of witch Ursula is simply delicious and she always wanted to play it.

Based on a Danish fairy tale by the same name, The Little Mermaid tells the story of Ariel, a young mermaid who falls in love with a prince. To get him, she makes a deal with the sea witch who grants her the power to become a human in exchange for her tongue. But as the deal fails, she ends up losing her life.

The musical will be performed alongside the live screening of the Disney version with a 71-piece live orchestra and a 12-person choir. The tickets start selling from 9 April.
