Barcelona FC is a football club which believes in hiring from among its pantheon of former greats when it comes to appointing the manager of their great club and they have continued that tradition starting from the hiring of Johann Cryuff to Pep Guardiola and now Luis Enrique. All those managers have been instrumental in shaping the fortunes of the modern Barcelona and another former great could be heading to the dugout at the Camp Nou in the near future if his recent statements regarding his future are to be believed.

Former Barcelona great and one of the mainstays of perhaps the greatest club football team in history, Xavi Hernandez has stated that his ultimate ambition is to become a coach and then take up the managerial position at the club he loves most- FC Barcelona. Xavi, who is currently playing for Qatari side Al Sadd, was speaking to football magazine FourFourTwo when he made these statements. He had been a youth level player for Barcelona and after graduated to the senior team, he represented the club with distinction over a period of 17 years, during which he won a total of 25 trophies including several league titles and 4 UEFA Champions League trophies.

Speaking about his current stint at Al Sadd and his future, he said,"I have no doubts. I want to stay in football, being close to the pitch. I would hate being stuck in an office. I want to do something properly or not at all. My ultimate objective is to coach Barcelona. I'm not hiding that. I want to work again for that house I consider a home." However, the 34 year old midfielder categorically stated that at this point in time he is concentrating on his life as a footballer with Al Sadd and would like to make football more popular ahead of the 2022 World Cup that is going to be held in the Emirati state. He can either start off as the coach of Barcelona B like his former manager Pep Guardiola or go on to manage clubs in Europe like Luis Enrique before applying for the job that he dreams of. Barcelona fans would certainly welcome Xavi to the Camp Nou dug out with open arms considering his stellar achievements with the club.
