Spanish giants Real Madrid are in the market for a new central midfielde and according to latest reports pulished in the website Fichajes.net, the Los Blancos could make a move for Manchester United's Ander Herrera. The former Athletic Bilbao midfielder, who joined Manchester United in 2014 made a bright start at Old Trafford but has found it tought to nail down a place in the starting eleven in the 2015-16 season. Herrera had been a player who United had wanted in 2013 but following a confusion on deadline day the deal did not materialise, however they went back with a bid of around £28 million the following year and took the player to Manchester United.

Real Madrid have had a disappointing season in which they might end up empty handed and are currently looking for options to strengthen their first team squad so that they are able to mount a serious title challenge in 2016-17. Midfield is an area that the club hierarchy believe needs to be looked into and although it has been reported that their first option is Frenchman Paul Pogba of Juventus, the club feels that they would not be able to foot the £80 million fee that is being demanded by the Italian club.

However, the Los Blancos believe that Ander Herrera could prove to be a more realistic target considering the lower transfer fee and the fact that he would not need any time to adjust to the La Liga is also a bonus. In addition to that, Manchester United are in danger of missing out on the UEFA Champions League places and if that happens then Herrera might choose to leave the club on his own. If that happens, then the transfer fee could prove to be even lower. Although it is true that Toni Kroos and Luka Modric have been exceptional at times, Real Madrid have suffered from a lack of options in midfield and the departure of German midfielder Sami Khedira has not helped matters either. If they are able to acquire Herrera then it may prove to be a very smart of business.
