It is common knowledge that Manchester City are going to conduct a massive overhaul of their first team squad in the summer following a disappointing campaign and according to reports in The Daily Express, new manager Pep Guardiola has set his sights on Barcelona defender Luis Suarez as one of his new recruits. Guardiola's younger brother Pere Guardiola is the owner of Media Base Sports agency that not only represents the incumbent City manager but also Luis Suarez and hence it is being reported that the former Barcelona manager could entice the Uruguayan forward to Manchester City.

Manchester City had been in pursuit of Pep Guardiola for more than two years in order to bring a touch of class to the project their project and while it is undeniable that the Spanish manager's dazzling CV and avant garde football is the primary reason for his appointment, it is also true that he will be able to attract the very best players from Europe to the Etihad due to his stature in the game.Suarez has been in scintitllating form for Barcelona in the 2015-16 seasons having scored 43 goals in as many games in all competitions and looks set to help the club witn their second La Liga title in as many years.

He had moved to Barcelona from Liverpool in a move worth around £65 million in 2014 and hence City might need to make a substantially large bid if they are to test Barcelona's resolve. However, considering the new mega money television deals that are going to enrich English clubs in the summer and the deep pockets of City's owners, there is absolutely no doubt that the club can certainly come up with whatever financial package that Barcelona might demand.

In this regard, it is interesting to point out that Pep Guardiola has been a long time admirer of the Uruguayan striker and in fact, he had tried to bring him to Bayern Munich back in 2014, when the striker was on the verge of joining Barcelona. Last but certainly not the least, it is imperative for City to reach the Champions League places if they are to entertain the thought of luring players of the calibre of Luis Suarez.
