Six people were killed when a small, private jet crashed into a house in Maryland, Monday.

The victims include a woman and her two young sons who were inside their home at that time and three people who were on board the aircraft, authorities revealed.

The jet slammed into the house in Gaithersburg, a Washington DC suburb, at around 10:45 a.m. The jet was registered to North Carolina-based Sage Aviation was on its way to the Montgomery County Airpark. The house into which it crashed was located just a mile away on the 19000 block of Drop Forge Lane in Gaithersburg.

The victims in the house have been identified as 36-year-old Marie Gemmell and her sons, 3-yera-old Cole and 1-month-old Devon. They were found in a bathroom on the second floor of the house.

Hours before the crash, Gemmell had posted on social networking site 'facebook' that she wanted to "stay home" Monday and watch the television with her children. It was a family of five. Gemmell's husband and oldest child were not at home at the time of the incident.

Health Decisions of Durham, North Carolina, stated in a news release that the victims included founder and CEO of the clinical research organization, Michael Rosenberg, Fox News reports.

In March 2010, Rosenberg was flying a different plane that had crashed in Gaithersburg. However, it is not clear whether Rosenberg was the pilot this time as well.

According to NBC News, the jet in this crash made a narrow cut through the roof of the home, while its rest of the body rested against another house. The jet's wing that contained fuel flung into a third home that led to a massive fire. Firefighters were called, but the flames were too large. Since it was too dangerous to do a top-to-bottom search, the authorities decided to first focus on dousing the flames.
