Nintendo fires their Product Marketing Specialist also a Female Gamer

Nintendo have fired their marketing specialist Alison Rapp this week, a move that followed a ruthless online harassment campaign from gamers terrified by changes to their beloved games.

The company insisted that the termination has got nothing at all to do with the harassmentbut Rapp argued otherwise. This is another incident that's latest in a series of concerning events that demonstrate about position women hold in the gaming industry, and the lengths some people can go to in order to silence or even force out with those they do not agree with.

People who ranted and harassed Rapp will certainly see her ousteras a major victory making the situation even worse than before. The campaign against Rapp is actually revolved around criticism of changes made to games such as the role-playing game Xenoblade Chronicles X, where it included in removing some of the skimpy outfits worn by teenaged characters and that let players change the bust size of various characters.

Some people and fans however weren't really pleased with all these developments.Even though Rapp hadn't worked on the localization of Xenoblade Chronicles X, she was still targeted. The attacks grew so vicious and gendered that she began to fear for her safety. She revealed on twitter that over the last few weeks she had to talk safety measures with her family including seeking assistance from the police about possible suspicious activity. She also suspected about GamerGate digging up all matters related to the personal matters of Rapp and transmitting the same to Nintendo. It's unclear just what started the attacks, although simply being an outspoken feminist in the gaming sector often is enough.

According to tweets from Rapp, the harassment started in October as frustration with Nintendo's work started rising among gamers.Such harassment been seen since 2014 with GamerGate, a movement that pretends to defend the ethics in gaming journalism but are more interested in harassing anyone particularly women within the industry who calls for greater inclusiveness in gaming. Nintendo have kept mum on the matters.

Though they could have backed-up their staff in all these matters, there is simply no support from the Japanese firm and nothing can be heard as speculated until the firing of Rapp. Nintendo however have denied about Rapp's personal beliefs or even the campaign against her was influential about the firing.
