The Houston Texans are likely to severe ties with quarterback Brian Hoyer after a dismal season which finally convinced the team to search for a better function QB asset. With the $72-million contract given to Brock Osweiler, Hoyer simply got the message loud and clear that he is now being ditched by Houston.

As revealed by NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Texans and Hoyer are now moving closely toward divorce with both sides reaching a common understanding of the situation.

"Note from @NFLTotalAccess: #Texans and QB Brian Hoyer appear headed for a divorce and both sides sound OK with a fresh start. He's available," Rapoport Twitter statement reads as quoted by The Christianity Daily.

With Hoyer's seemingly inevitable exit from the Texans, Denver Broncos is reportedly keen to get him to the fold giving the embattled QB a fresh start.

Hoyer landed a $10.5-million two-year contract with the Texans after two years with Cleveland Browns. In his stint with the Texans, Hoyer played 11 games including nine starts, completed 60.7% of his passes for 2, 606 yards, and earned 10 touchdowns against 7 interceptions as reported by Houston Press.

Meanwhile, Denver Broncos is in a serious predicament right now after Peyton Manning's retirement and Brock Osweiler's jumping off board with the Texans. To minimize the effect of Osweiler's loss, Broncos GM John Elway brought Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez in as a stopgap response as reported by the Inquisitr. But the problem demands a long-term resolution making Hoyer a possible target for trade with the Texans.

Despite his flaws, Hoyer remains a solid NFL quarterback. With Hoyer on their lineup, Broncos may still be able to reach the Superbowl without an official franchise QB.

Apart from the Texans, the 7-year NFL veteran is also reportedly being eyed upon by other teams in the league including the Los Angeles Rams and New York Jets according to Denver-based radio host Benjamin Allbright as mentioned in a report by Turf Show Times.
