The fifteenth season of American Idol is edging towards its finale with four exceptionally talented singers fighting for the title.

Trent Harmon, Mackenzie Bourg, Dalton Rapattoni and La'Porsha Renae are each strong in their individual genres, but have been known to falter during the Judges' Choice performances. Critics and fans are contemplating who will qualify as the title winner and who will bag the runner up places, taking into account the various performances that have been aired so far. Ahead of the massive results episode, the four finalists got an opportunity to take part in the traditional hometown shows as per reports.

All four finalists performed their personal favourites of the season with Mackenzie and La Porsha choosing all time crowd pleasers like "Hallelujah" and "Glory". Dalton chose to sing a rendition of "Calling You" by a Texan band called Blue October and Trent belted out his version of "Tennessee Whiskey". At the end of the show, the visibly emotional Ryan Seacrest announced that Mackenzie would no longer be participating in the show naming Trent, Dalton and La'Porsha as the finalists who will battle it down during the finale.

According to most fans and critics, Dalton Rappatoni stands a chance to come in third as he has not performed as consistently well as the others. However his pop-funk version of Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing in the Dark" was highly appreciated by the judges. La'Porshe and Trent are expected to fight it out to claim the title after delivering excellent versions of "Stay With Me", "Hello", "Drink You Away" and "Waiting Game". Their popularity among the judges is highly evident to the extent that Jennifer Lopez reportedly got goose bumps during Trent's performance of "Waiting Game."

CBS Television City will air a special episode honoring the legacy of the show on Tuesday, the performance show on Wednesday and the final showdown on Thursday bringing the enormously popular show to a close.
