Ever since the movie about New Mutants was announced last year in May 2015, the media is abuzz with speculations as to who will make it to the cast and play the mighty superhero teenagers training at the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.

And, if the latest news is anything to go by, it looks like the audience will get to watch some powerhouse performances. As per reports, Game of Thrones' actress Maisie Williams has been finalized to play the role of Rahne Sinclair (aka Wolfsbane). The other actress to have made an entry to the Mutants cast is Anya Taylor Joy from "The Witch" who will be essaying Illya Rasputin (aka Magik).

Wolfsbane is one of the main protagonists who also served as the emotional anchor for the Marvel DC Comics in the 80s. This shape shifter can change into a wolf-like creature at any time when she wills. Magik is the younger sister of Piotr and she is a sorceress who can travel through time and space.

It seems like the Game of Thrones has done the magic for Williams, by getting her a pivotal role in the science-fiction drama. But it is worth mentioning here that Sophie Turner aka Sansa Stark from the HBO fantasy series had already landed a similar role and is playing a young Jean Grey in the sci-fi drama, X-Men: Apocalypse, slated to release shortly, on May 27, 2016.

The reports also say that Sophie may appear in New Mutants along with Tye Sheridan as Cyclops and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler. The rest of the superheroes i.e. Cannonball, Mirage and Sunspot are yet to be finalized. However, nothing in this regard has been confirmed by 20th Century Fox.

Notably, the film is being produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg with The Fault in Our Stars' fame Josh Boone, directing the movie. He is also co-scripting the young adult drama with Knate Gwaltney. The release date has not been announced, but it is expected to hit the theaters in 2018.
