Nintendo will introduce their first ever mobile app to the US and elsewhere on Thursday after a successful home-turf debut earlier this month. Called the "Miitomo", it's more of a social app than just a game. Users create an animated character "Mii" which'll ask you questions about users' interests and build itself around users' personality. People can then interact through their Miis.

The app is already a hotstar in Japan resulting in more than a million downloads and registered users over the first three days of its launch becoming the most-downloaded free app in both the App Store and Google Play stores in the country. Nintendo will likely see if the same result will commence in the US play store and worldwide.

Miitomo is free to play, but Nintendo has ways of generating revenue from the app through a related "rewards program." Through in-app purchases, you can buy clothing and other items for your Mii.My Nintendo rewards program will offer two levels of points to people who use Nintendo apps and services through in-app purchases.

Users interested in Miitomo can preregister for a Nintendo account. Acting before Thursday will start-off with points. Other than the US, Nintendo hasn't specified or detailed about which countries Miitomo will enter on Thursday. A company page lists Canada, Russia, Australia, New Zealand and several European nations waiting for its arrival on their respective app stores.

Miitomo is the first of the mobile apps to be released by the Japanese firm over the coming year. The other apps are features for some of their popular characters. It's a first timer for Nintendo entering the mobile application platform. Previously declined by the Japanese firm in an interest to be present in the mobile platform, Nintendo previously concentrate only on developing games for their own platform. Horribly late for the competition due to dominance from their competitors Sony and Microsoft, all we have to do is wait and watch if it's a yes or no for them.
