Nearly 14 years after he borrowed a VHS tape, a North Carolina man was recently arrested for not returning it.

NBC News reports that James Meyers Jr. had borrowed the 2001 Tom Green flick 'Freddy Got Fingered' from rental store J&J's Video in 2002. When he forgot to return the VHS tape, the rental owner got a warrant issued. It was not until he was pulled over by a cop on Tuesday did he realize the warrant was pending against him.

The 37-year-old DJ was stopped by a police official for driving with a busted brake light. When the officer ran his license number, the pending warrant for not returning the tape, showed up. Though he was not arrested immediately, Meyers was produced before a magistrate and handcuffed. He is due to appear in court on April 27.

"They are not out here catching heroin dealers. They are chasing people for movie rentals from places that don't even exist anymore," Meyers says in the YouTube video he filmed." That blows my mind."

Freddy Got Fingered is about an unemployed cartoonist who moves in with his mother and family. It was criticized and actor Tom Green received a worst actor award!

Meyers' story went viral on social media this week. Many who learnt about it, expressed astonishment that the police actually served a 14-year-old warrant for a VHS tape.

Green expressed shock when he learnt about the incident and reportedly called Meyers. He offered him help with paying the fine and legal fees. As for Meyers, he said he would learn about his rights and decide if he needs a lawyer.
