How Internet of Things could connect the bridge between Urban and Rural India

Internet can bring the actual revolution empowering millions in rural areas by connecting to the mainstream in India.

Connecting rural India will provide the essential bond between urban and rural India. It is certain in relaying the benefits of a digital economy to the largest part of the country. It will strengthen in providing education, health, governance and financial services to unserved areas.

Since most patients in rural areas do not have access to specialists, several large hospitals in the metros are beginning to offer remote consulting services in rural villages using internet networking capabilities. Specialists can now see and directly interact with patients in remote centers, with the case history and medical data automatically available to the doctor for analysis. "Similarly, the technology can be leveraged to offer high-quality remote education in high schools across the country." Oracle India managing director told reporters.

The "Internet of Things" connectivity also houses a host of development opportunities including manufacturing and e-commerce to market local and traditional products. A host of localization technologies can help different regions to communicate thereby eliminating language barrier. "Relevant information and updates can be provided in local languages and scripts," the Oracle executive added. IoT emerges as the next big thing to be a twenty lakh crore global industry by 2020 and India is all set to dominate at least 20 percent market share in the next five years. Andhra Pradesh has taken a lead when it comes to unleashing the potential in the country.

The state government has approved the first-of-its-kind policy with an aim to turn the state into an IoT hub by 2020 and tap 10 percent market share in the country. It is dramatically alerting manufacturing, energy, transportation, medical and other industrial sectors worldwide. Industry numbers indicate that manufacturing will be one of the main drivers in the Asia Pacific market and will be the biggest sector in spending.

India is now an emerging market and has a lot of potential with several initiatives like "Digital India" and "Smart cities" program etc. India will supposedly be the next big market in South Asia holding a dominant position.
