Khloe Kardashian, Lamar Odom's ex-wife, has stood by him like a brick. She has helped to pull him back from his disastrous collapse in a Nevada brothel.

"He has been playing with friends in a private gym. It's a far cry from his NBA days, but he is very happy about shooting hoops again," says an inside source. Basketball is the key to his bigger plans. "Lamar is determined to reignite the passion in his marriage with Khloe. He is hoping that if Khloe sees him score on the court that maybe he will be able to score with her in the bedroom too."

An insider tells HollywoodLife.com: "He still has caregivers to keep an eye on him, but he's been practicing basketball and hitting the gym and weight room. His dreams of returning to the NBA may be far from reality, but his hope of what might be possible is keeping him motivated to make progress and work hard every day. Just like returning to the NBA may be a pipe dream, so is a reconciliation with Khloe, but both are dreams of his and keep him dedicated to work hard. If he can achieve either dream, NBA or get back with Khloe, it would be the ultimate comeback."

Last year, when he collapsed, the 31-year-old reality star, Khloe Kardashian, called off her divorce so she could make his medical decisions. However, she is clear that they are not back together in marriage, even though she is prepared to have a romantic reunion. Still, it may be quite some time before even that happens.

"I don't think anything, like, romantically about Lamar," she explained on the March 9 episode of Kocktails With Khloe. "I'm coming from a place of complete care and concern and I want Lamar's well-being, but people find that so bizarre for some reason. I genuinely care about someone's well-being and I want them to be happy. When you spend that many years with someone, they will always be in your life."

His first show in public was at Kanye West's Yeezy show in February. The full Kardashian family stood by him.

"Kanye was really instrumental in Lamar's getting better," Khloe admitted. "Kanye would come to the hospital and play his album for Lamar and Lamar couldn't speak at this time, but music is definitely a form of therapy. But Lamar would say he could understand everything, but he couldn't get the words out and he felt really trapped within his own body, which was terrifying and we were afraid he was going to stay like that. So when he was finally able to speak he would always say, 'Kanye really helped me.' I loved that he would come and do that for him."

So it's a new era for Lamar Odom, it looks like! The upside is that Lamar Odom's physical and emotional well-being are really looking up, though he has not completely reached his mission point.
