"Mr. Robot" came last year and carved itself a niche in a very short span of time. Not only did critics give favorable reviews, it also won itself a Golden Globe award, apart from various nominations. After its roaring success, it was only prudent that the show be refreshed for second season, something that the fans are eagerly awaiting by now.

Sam Esmail, the show creator, revealed at the SXSW festival that the show will be about data encryption and privacy. In the face of Apple-FBI issue, where government wants to breach their privacy policy to gain access of the San Bernardino shooter's iPhone, these series will certainly address the issue with a fresh perspective.

"What's weird is we're really going into thematically talking a lot about encryption and privacy, and this whole thing with Apple and Tim Cook happened, which I actually think is a really important issue that we're really going to get into in the next ten years or so," Esmail said.

The fans can also expect to plot points from previous season that will be reintroduced in the second season. "Elliott committed a crime in the first season, and we're gonna see the ramifications of that in the second season, I think that drives a lot about what the second season's all about," Esmail revealed. "And really I think the second season is about [Elliott and Mr. Robot] - that internal struggle, what does that look like, and how are they going to reconcile it?"

Esmail also revealed that a huge role will be played by law enforcement in the new season, giving new dimensions to the story and thus adding more layers to the show. Grace Gummer, popular for her roles in "The Newsroom" and "American Horror Story," is playing the role of field FBI agent, investigating the Evil Corp Hack.
