Apple's iPhone SE: Specs, Features and Release Date

Turning 2016 into an unprecedented year Apple is all set to launch new iPhone that is entirely different than ever. Witnessing a drop in the sales during this quarter for the very first time Apple seems to be all set to use its back pocket all along : The iPhone SE.

Releasing a mid-cycle iPhone replacement and a March upgrade are some of the trends as of now that are expected to boost its sales at a time to many customers. The release of the new iPhone SE is expected to bring sales to the company only during June and September quarters and not much can be expected until then. The new 4-inch model is a new strategy for Apple that has the same annual release cycle with one annual upgrade.

However efforts were made by the company to release a new lower-end phone that was expected to take the same form as that of the iPhone 5c. The launch of iPhone 5s ofcourse overshadowed iPhone 5c. This scenario will not be witnessed when iPhone SE is considered due to the considerable spacing between the launch of other models of iPhone like the 6s and 7s. Despite this the target market would not find the 4-inch model appreciable.

Apple which portrayed the screen size of the commercial entitled "Thumb" in 2012 as a "dazzling display of common sense" included a feature called Reachability and eventually caved in to the larger smartphone trend. This feature brings the screen down to half size just by a duble tap on the screen.

Considering the fact that the customers find the 4-inch form factor of the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s more convenient than the larger 4.7-inch screen size of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6 Apple has no plans to abandon it.

Assuming and owing to the rumors so far the iPhone SE will feature a 12-megapixel camera, A9 processor and is expected to be a formidable device from a hardware perspective. With an A9 chip, the "iPhone SE" would outperform the A8 chip in the iPhone 6, which sells starting at $549.
