Samsung Galaxy Note 5 users can finally heave a sigh of relief as the South Korean smart phone manufacturer has given some positive signals regarding Google's open source operating system, Android. The 6.0 version, i.e. Marshmallow, also known as Android M, is coming soon.

According to the International Business Times, Android 6.0 Marshmallow will have some strategic features that will let it stand apart. An update will bring along a slew of new features in its wake that are aimed at extending the battery life and giving users more control when the phone is on silent mode.

To prolong the battery, a "Doze Mode" will be introduced that would put all background apps to slumber. The "Do Not Disturb Mode" will let users select particular apps and contacts which can send them notifications. There will also be a Google Now on Tap feature through which users can get a summary of the activities on their phablet's screen. Last but not the least, Amazon store app will no longer automatically make an entry to their phone.

The features are really exciting, but the delay has dampened the spirit of consumers to a fair extent. They have been waiting since last year as media reports were indicating that the update will be released by the end of December. But even after three months, there was no sign of coming.

Google had begun the Marshmallow update of the OS and other smart phone companies received the update on their Android devices. But Samsung users did not receive any update and till now they are waiting to hear from their company.

Interestingly, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) last year, it was announced that Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge would come updated with Android M and buyers can get along with them as soon as they are shipped to their doorsteps, states The Gospel Herald.
