Because of the great wave of the drama's rating and good viewer's review, the popularity of the drama series "Descendants of the Sun" caught the Chinese government attention as it notifies the viewers its danger.

China's ministry of public security posted last Saturday (March 12) a warning against watching "Descendants Of The Sun" on its Weibo site.

Since the official airing in Korea and China of the drama "Descendants of the Sun" starring actor Song Joong Ki and actress Song He-Kyo, famous for one of her dramas "Full house", it rose into a vast fandom of popularity that struck every heart of the viewers, it says. Warning states that "watching Korean dramas could be dangerous, and even lead to legal troubles".

The ministry stated examples on its official Weibo site of extreme cases due to the detrimental influence of watching Korean dramas. Cases like - a couple who divorced as of watching Korean dramas and a man who undergo plastic surgeries to reclaim the love of his wife.

Descendants of the Sun is a huge hit and has become the most mentioned drama on social media, with cumulative views of 440 million views on Chinese video iQiyi, according to a Chinese online media company.

DOTS even overtook the increasing number of views of 2014 hit drama "My love from the Star" starred by Jun Ji-hyun and Kim Soo-hyun.

The drama series is also garnering an increasing number of views and popularity since the date of its official airing in Korea. With a record of 14.4% of viewership in its first episode aired on Feb 24 and a continuous record breaking views of 28.5% for its 6th episode on March 10, according to AGB Nielsen, a television rating company.
