So far, tech buffs are divided with one side convinced that the era of console gaming is over which effectively kills PlayStation 5 and the other that thinks it will be launched with an entirely new set of features that will totally change the face of console gaming forever.

Although Sony's current console flagship PlayStation 4 remains popular with gamers, fans have been eagerly anticipating the advent next generation gaming consoles in the coming years. Speculations circulating in rumor land suggests that the device will be purportedly replaced by PlayStation 5.

Let's look at the latest roundups on the rumored PlayStation 5 specs and other related news.

Console gaming is an extremely fierce sector due to a relatively short lifespan of consoles pushing developers to stretch the limits of the current technology and their creativity. After all, Sony's rivals, Nintendo and Microsoft, are all expected to showcase the development of their next gen consoles at some point in the near future.

In a report by Crossmap, Sony and Microsoft are mostly likely to alter PlayStation and Xbox in an entirely new level by incorporating their respective virtual reality (VR) technologies into the console setup. We could imagine incorporating Project Morpheus into PlayStation 5. After all, gaming (including PC and mobile) are gearing up for a futuristic drive towards VR anyway.

Apart from an integrated VR support, MNR Daily report suggests that the smaller and sleeker device shall have a streaming function that allows gamers to stream games onto TV similar to Apple TV.

Breathe Cast also reports on the speculative launch of two PlayStation 5 variants with one called Core Experience with storage offering of as much as 50TB.

To provide high definition graphics, Neurogadget speculates that Sony's futuristic console might be designed to support 4k ultra Blu-Ray discs.

Lastly, release dates are rumored to be scheduled either in 2019 or 2020 preceded by an official statement by the Japanese tech giant by the end of this year. However, people are advised not to get overhyped as many of these circulating rumors remained unconfirmed.
