Good news for The Vampire Diaries fans! It has been announced that the drama together with other CW TV series gets a nod and gets a renewal contract from the big bosses from the network which means we can see more of the Julie Plec vampire dramas in its next season.

The CW has become home to some of the most critically-acclaimed shows on broadcast television, with a wide array of fantastic scripted series across the week, ranging from musical comedy, to superhero action, to gritty sci-fi dramas. As we continue to further our strategy of more year-round original programming, picking up these 11 series for the 2016-2017 season puts us in a great position of having proven, high-quality shows to launch in the fall as well as midseason and summer of 2017," CW boss Mark Pedowitz said in his official statement.

Aside from The Vampire Diaries, shows like The 100, Supernatural ( now returning on its 12th season), The Originals, and Jane the Virgin gets a go from the TV network.

Also, iZombie and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, with the Golden Globe awardee Rachel Brown, will be returning for another season. Reign will also be returning in April despite rumors that Torrance Combs has been hired in another network, ABC to star in Still Star-Crossed.

There have been previous rumors that The Vampire Diaries, together with The Originals, will completely be phased out when the two shows were moved on a Friday night. However, a surprising effect happened and the shows' new time slots, actually, increased their ratings with a reported increase of '39 percent in total viewers and 60 percent in the demo versus the same time last year.'

Despite the increase in ratings, The Flash is still declared as CW's most loved TV show with its average of 3.66 million total viewers and a 1.4 demo rating. The show also gains up to 5.67 mil/2.3 with Live+7 DVR playback.

Their ratings were followed by Arrow with 2.67 mil/1.0 (4 mil/1.6 with DVR) followed by DC's Legends of Tomorrow with 2.62 mil/1.0 (4.26 mil/1.7 with DVR).

Season 7 of The Vampire Diaries will start on TV in April 1.
