Celine Dion steps in the crowd and had her first performance at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas without his husband-manager, Rene Angellil in Las Vegas on Tuesday a month after his death.

In the first 20 minutes of her show that was also livestreamed on her website, the My Heart Will Go On hit maker remembers her late husband who died of cancer last month and paid tribute to him.

"I understood that my career was in a way his masterpiece, his song, his symphony. The idea of leaving it unfinished would have hurt him terribly. I realized that if he ever left us, I would have to continue without him, for him," the singer talked to her audience as reported by E! Online.

In her speech, she continued saying how Rene has been her best critic who gently points out what she needs to hear without hurting her artistic self. According to the singer, he always made sure to keep, even their first date, special for her.

"René was my very best critic. He never told me what I wanted to hear, he told me what I needed to hear. You know night after night on our way back home from the show when he was so silent, I could sense that he was trying to know how to approach me without hurting my artistic feeling, but there were things that he had to tell me for my own growth. René is the only man that I have known all my life. He always made me feel that we were on our first date, isn't that amazing? Never talking bluntly, and always impressing himself in a soft and gentle way. We were one. And nothing has changed we will always be one."

January was such a sad month for the Canadian-born singer who lost two members of his family-his 73-year old husband's death was followed by the death of his brother Daniel who also died from from cancer, New York Daily News recalled.

On the night of her performance, the songstress posted a photo on Instagram showing a number of brushes used on her makeup. Beside it is a photo of her and her deceased husband. The photo looks like it was taken in her dressing room.
