Online speculations about the upcoming iPhone 7 and Galaxy S7 seem to have escalated an ongoing rumor wars between Apple and Samsung- two of the world's top smartphone giants. Based on unconfirmed reports circulating in rumor land, how is Samsung's 2016 flagship compared with Apple's signature smartphone brand?

Let's look at a number of purported tweaks that will form the basis of our comparison between the two.

Samsung's Galaxy S7

Battery life has been one of tech consumers' top smartphone concern. According to a report by 9to5Google, FCC documents confirm previously reported speculations about a 3600mAh enlarged battery for S7 Edge (an S7 variant) - an upgrade after the current S6 model was criticized for its unimpressive battery life.

In his article written for The Verge, Chris Welch revealed unconfirmed leaked photos of seemingly convincing Galaxy S7 a black-colored curved back design, water resistant features, micro SD slot, better protection against dust, upgraded camera sensor that improves pictures shot at low light, and Exynos octa-core (8 core) processor.

Apple's iPhone 7

Based on rumor updates by Fox News, the new iPhone 7 comes with a slew of exciting innovations like an innovatively-designed camera equipped with dual lens (possibly using LinX Imaging technology). The headphones are getting a highly possible wireless makeover using Apple Lightning connector or a technology similar to Beats. Of course, Apple may put some add-ons like an upgraded smartphone processor, an improved battery life, and possibly water resistance features too.

More rumored updates will surely be streaming in the coming days as the dates of the devices' releases are nearing. For the unfamiliar reader, Galaxy S7 is scheduled to roll out in the market on 21 February while the iPhone won't be due until September.
