Actor Wayne Rogers, known for playing Trapper John McIntyre on "M.A.S.H," passed away on Thursday. He was 82.

Rogers' publicist and a longtime friend, Rona Menashe, announced that Rogers died of complications from pneumonia. He was surrounded by his family in Los Angeles.

Alan Alda, who played Hawkeye Pierce on the CBS T.V. series, tweeted, "He was smart, funny, curious and dedicated. We made a pack to give MASH all we had and it bonded us. I loved Wayne. I'll miss him very much."

Even though Rogers was on "M.A.S.H" for only the first three seasons, his character has remained a fan favorite over the years. The interactions between Rogers and Alda's characters were also considered to be some of the show's best scenes.

After "M.A.S.H," Rogers starred in other TV shows, which included a recurring role in "Murder, She Wrote." After acting, Rogers had quite a successful business career.

He was also a financial commentator on the Fox News Channel show, Cashin' In.

Rogers was born William Wayne McMillan Rogers III on April 7, 1933 in Alabama. While attending the Ivy League, Princeton University, Rogers was a member of the theater club where he became interested in acting.

Rogers is survived by his Amy, his second wife, his two children from his first marriage with Mitzi McWhorter, and four grandchildren.
