Steve Kerr could be making his return as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors as early as Saturday, several media outlets have been reporting.

The reports of a return heated up after Kerr traveled with the team for the back-to-back away games against the Dallas Mavericks and the Houston Rockets - the first time that he has done so this season. The last time Kerr traveled with the team was in Nov. 19 when the Warriors played the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center.

"He seems good," Luke Walton, who has done a great job coaching the Warriors, said. "He's in good spirits. He's furious at me for getting him another loss (Wednesday) night, but other than that, he seems like he's handling it pretty well."

Walton added, according to the San Francisco Chronicle reported by NBA.com, "If it is (my last game), it was a lot of fun. I'll be thrilled to have Steve back coaching us again, but I haven't spent any time thinking about this possibly being my last game as head coach."

Kerr took a leave of absence prior to the start of the 2015-16 season to recover from two back surgeries. Although he has showed up to some team practices throughout the season, Kerr and the Warriors never set a timetable. The Warriors had stated that they would wait until Kerr decides that he is ready to come back.

Warriors guard Klay Thompson is ready to have Kerr back.

"I can't wait to have Steve back," Thompson said. "When he's back in the gym, we're on extra edge, because it's like, 'Oh shoot, we don't want to disappoint Coach. When he does come back - whenever that is - I hope he gets a huge ovation, because he's the one who puts this all together."

Thompson also praised Walton's work with the team.

"This won't be Luke's last game as a head coach. He's got a great future in this league. His record exemplifies that, and he's a lot of fun to play for. He keeps it light around here, but we also respect his knowledge. There's a reason we're 30-2," he said.

The Warriors (30-2) will play the Denver Nuggets at home Saturday night at 10:30 p.m.
