For the eight year running, Americans have voted Barack Obama as the most admired man.

The 'most admired' question was asked by Gallup as part of its popular annual poll that ranks men and women according to responses from a sample of citizens. This year, President Obama topped the men's list with Donald Trump coming second. Gallup attributed Trump's popularity to his 'strong and controversial' presidential campaign. Pope Francis, Bernie Sanders, Bill Gates, Billy Graham and Dalai Lama also made it to the top ten, USA Today reports. Obama was named most admired man by 17 percent of those who answered the poll's question.

For the 14th year in a row, Hilary Clinton topped the list of 'Most Admired Women'. Gallup noted that Clinton made it to the list during her time as the first lady, a senator, Secretary of State and now as a presidential hopeful. Clinton has made it to the top of the list 20 times, more than any woman or man.

"Clinton is the front-runner for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination. Given the prominence of presidents and ex-presidents in the most admired lists, if Clinton succeeds in her presidential bid, she would certainly continue to add to her long list of records in Gallup's most admired polling," Gallup said.

However, Queen Elizabeth II has had more top 10 finishes than any other woman while Billy Graham made it most number of times, 59, to the top 10 list of most admired men. Graham, aged 97, has surprisingly never the topped the list.
