Joy, Jennifer Lawrence latest film as directed by David O. Russell, hits theaters on Christmas Day on Friday and even on its first two days of showing, it has already been received by not so joyful reviews.

The movie is a biopic of a successful single mom-turned-entrepreneur, Joy Mangano portrayed by JLaw who invented and etched a new record for her 'Miracle Mop' that has first made success in the home-shopping networks HSN in the 80s.

"When cable was first coming into people's homes, this was something totally new: buying things from the privacy of their own homes, even things they didn't particularly need," TV historian Tim Brooks said further stating the power of television in demonstrating how to use the product without the aid of a catalogue, as reported by USA Today.

What at first deemed to be a feminist movie had its pitfalls when, according to Vox, the director chose the 25-year old Hunger Games actress said to be too young to play Mangano's role who, at the heights of her fame, was in her 30s or 40s.

The publication cited Russell's chemistry with JLaw in The American Hustle as she played the same role of a divorce woman but the actress is said 'too young' for the role.

It was also said that the film is made of mash-up of unconnected scenes that failed to create drama and tension that can heighten her glory of inventing the famous mop.

The movie, who also stars A-lister Robert DeNiro, Bradley Cooper and newcomer, Edgar Ramirez is also said to 'have a dull script and an uncharacteristic plodding style,' New York Daily News said.

The publication further stated that the movie plainly and chronologically shows Joy's miserable life in a dysfunctional family with her abusive father played by DeNiro.

Meanwhile, The Guardian critic, Peter Bradshaw hinted a positive note on Russell's 'intriguing but weirdly subdued and stylized film' further describing Jennifer Lawrence as an actress who has achieved 'imperious beauty.
