Halle Berry Files for Divorce after 2 Years of Marriage
Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez will be the next Hollywood couple to divorce this year.
The 49-year-old actress has filed for divorce papers. TMZ reported that Berry wrote "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the separation. The two were married in July 2013 and have one child, Maceo, 2.
"It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce," Berry and Martinez, also 49, told E! News in a statement. "We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son. We wish each other nothing but happiness in life and we hope that you respect our and, most importantly, our children's privacy as we go through this difficult period."
A source told PEOPLE that the split was "amicable" and that Berry "is okay."
The news was not that shocking since Berry has not been wearing her wedding ring in the past few months. In an interview back in July, Berry also seemingly forgot the date of her second wedding anniversary. They reportedly were "affectionate" during a breakfast date in August.
The couple was also photographed in recent weeks. Just last week, they were seen together with their son.
Berry and the French actor signed a prenuptial agreement before they got married. This will be Berry's third divorce and Martinez's first.
Berry was previously married to Eric Benét and David Justice. Berry also has seven-year-old daughter, Nahla from her previous relationship with model, Gabriel Aubrey.
