It's quite interesting and amusing to know that the state of your tongue reveals whether you are prone to bad breath or not. Dr Harold Katz is an expert in the matter, especially since he is a US based dentist and author of the book 'Bad Breath Bible'. He is also the founder of The California Breath Clinics.

According to Dr Harold Katz, as reported by Daily Mail - there are predominantly two main factors that determine the top causes of bad breath. One is if the tongue is uneven, it tends to hide more bacteria thereby causing bad breath. Secondly, the more coated a tongue is, the more odorous the breath tends to be. In his book Bad Breath Bible, he reveals that the other surprising causes of bad breath are largely owed to toothpastes with a detergent base, high protein diets, etc.

According to Katz, primarily bad breath is caused when bacteria feed on proteins that are left behind in our mouths. This is further converted into Sulphur based compounds which gives out the unpleasant smell. Our mouths are thronging with good and bad bacteria. While some aid the body in varied healthy activities, others can cause infections and illnesses. It is also these billions of bacteria that are responsible for causing the foul smelling bad breath too, reports the Daily Mail.

So, take a look in the mirror and examine your tongue to quickly decipher if you are the kind who is naturally more prone to bad breaths or not.
