A recent observation by Kepler Telescope opened up a strange possibility of signs of alien civilization. Astronomers are using the Allen Telescope system, a radio dish system located 300 miles North East of San Francisco, to locate and understand the signals that are coming from area near KIC 8462852, a star located between two constellations - Cygnus the Swan and Lyra the Harp, 1500 lights years away from earth, reported Space

According to sightings by NASA's Kepler telescope, the star KIC 8462852 is an unusual star that cannot be seen with the naked eyes but was spotted by the telescope, observing it for the last 4 years, as per The Atlantic. Kepler pointed out slights dips in the light that emanates from the star. The same dips have been observed by the telescope in more 1,50,000 stars at the same time, because the dips can be explained by shadows that are cast orbiting planets. These dips repeat as you expect because they were caused by the same objects that are transiting in the space. The dimming events have been noted as erratic and too frequent to be labeled as caused by a planet that is crossing the star's face. There has also been no satisfactory explanation regarding the huge dust cloud.

The most prominent hypothesis that explains this phenomenon is that some comets that may have sent towards the star due to gravitational pull of the star passing by. But it has also been said that what Kepler saw was due to enormous structures that were built by an alien civilization. Even though this possibility is highly remote, it does generate interest of other scientists in KIC 8462852 who are looking for signals that have been generated by aliens in the outer space, says NBC News.
