J.K Rowling has written a Harry Potter sequel...well, sort of.

The author announced that her upcoming play, "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," will follow an adult Harry and his youngest son, Albus. The play was first announced in June but at the time, Rowling did not provide any details.

The description for the play reads:

"It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places."

Rowling has previously stated that she had no plans to continue the Harry Potter story. In April, she had said, "I think Harry Potter 8, as in what happened next to Harry, Ron and Hermione-I don't think that's going to happen." However, it seems like her mind has been changed.

"The story only exists because the right group of people came together with a brilliant idea about how to present Harry Potter on stage," she said in a recent statement. "I'm confident that when audiences see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child they will understand why we chose to tell this story in this way."

Rowling, who conceived the idea for the play, worked with play writers Jack Thorn and John Tiffany to bring her ideas to fruition. It will be produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender's Playground Entertainment and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions.

The play will be performed in two parts at the Palace Theatre in London next summer. Casting has not started yet but fans are excited to see who will play the adult Harry Potter.
