Skype is the name synonymous with go-to VoIP app for communication and messaging. But there are millions that prefer using Google hangouts or Whatsapp for communicating with friends and family. But now, thanks to the direct link, skype can also be used as the new option. All the users of skype on windows, mac or web will be able to send links to their friends for a direct chat. Once that link is accepted, the users will be able to join the conversation through web. If you already have a Skype name and the app on your phone or tablet, you can initiate the link by simply clicking the link, according to PC World.

This feature has been included to make the skype app available to larger number of people without actually downloading the app or installing it on their computers. However, with this new Skype feature, it is expected to impact the web conferencing space, especially for those people who use low cost software to conduct online meetings. These people can now use the more reliable skype to conduct their official meetings or casual chats, says Techno Stream.

The small change announced by Skype will bring in big waves in how the users use this software. A simple link can now be shared with anyone to add them into a conversation without caring much about the platform that is being used to send the invite. This means that you will be able to chat with even those people who do not have a skype account yet. The function is simple, easy to use and straight forward and this feature has already been rolled out for the world to use. Thanks to Skype for Web, you don't need to download the application anymore, reports Slash Gear.
